2 Road infrastructure – legal basisBasic scope of legal acts related to road infrastructure. Basic concepts, definitions, classifications of roads. Characteristics of the existing infrastructure. Strategies in PGL LP regarding engineering infrastructure. Conducting the legal and construction process: stages of the process, people involved in it (rights and obligations). Definitions and concepts of construction works and road works. Classification of damage to road elements – their causes, possible repairs and elimination of causes. The scope of road documentation in terms of planned works. Classification of works in the scope of the planned scope. The scope and necessity of proceeding with the environmental impact for forest roads. Water law permits for road works20

3 Elements of road documentationElements of road documentation and their scope. Basic rules for the development of documentation (design elements). Analysis of selected documentation – a case study. The process of verification and receipt of project documentation. Factors influencing road parameters: traffic structure on roads, vehicle parameters. Planning of forest road load. Minimum parameters of internal roads. Designing the surface structure of forest roads. Terrain conditions as a determining factor in the design of elements of a forest road. Design issues of road drainage elements.45

4 Road manager as a works investorThe road manager as an investor (contractor) of works related to the maintenance of the road infrastructure – “from defining the needs, through the tender for the design and its acceptance, to the supervision of works and their acceptance”. The issue of disappearing works to be covered. Road works acceptance procedures and their definition – analysis of detailed technical specifications.10

5 Road infrastructure managementResponsibilities of the road infrastructure manager. Threats in road infrastructure management (taxes, fees, construction violations). Records of internal roads with particular emphasis on forest roads. Marking of internal roads. Responsibility and traffic management on internal roads. Functioning of internal communication systems in the local road infrastructure – connections, signage and cooperation with other managers. Organization and design of connections. Providing access to internal roads for public traffic. Joint projects in the road infrastructure of two different managers.20

6 Technologies and materials in road constructionAspects of road surface classification and their influence on the choice of technology and design solutions. Soil classification and recognition. Determination of land features and their field research. Soil and water conditions. Technologies for strengthening road substrates. Technologies and materials in road construction, with particular emphasis on roads with low and medium load – internal roads. Classification of road aggregates and their most important features in forest road construction.40

7 Field exercisesComprehensive field exercises related to the scope of subjects (first semester – winter 15h) at the Rogów Forestry Facility – soil science issues, field research of road substrates, presentation of road aggregates, road maintenance. Exercises organized in the selected forest district, thematically covering the scope of studies (in the second summer semester 15 h) – road management, communication systems, road investments.20

8 Completion of studies, Final examThe listener presents the selected issue in the form of a presentation (approx. 10-15 minutes), which is assessed by the group and the teacher. The topics of the issues are set at the beginning of the second semester and approved by the head of studies (electronic and paper versions of the study are attached to the documentation). At the end of the Study, students write a final exam (test) in the subjects discussed.15

Conditions for completing postgraduate studies “Road infrastructure in forests”:

– obtaining credits in subjects provided for in the study program;
– presentation (paper) and electronic presentation (approx. 10-15 minutes), the subject of which is determined at the beginning of the second semester and approved by the Head of Studies.
– passing the final examination. At the end of their studies, students write a final exam (test) in the scope of the subjects they cover.

P_W01 Has extensive knowledge of the legal basis for the functioning of internal roads, enabling independent solving of problems related to the management of road infrastructure.
P_W02 Has extensive knowledge of the role of internal roads in the functioning of forest areas and in local infrastructure, allowing for planning and creating directions for their development.
P_W03 Has knowledge of the techniques and technologies used in road engineering, taking into account the local conditions, economic and ecological, allowing to ensure the proper functioning of the road infrastructure.
P_W04 He has knowledge of the role of the investor and the manager of state treasury assets in processes related to the maintenance of road infrastructure.
P_W05 He has knowledge in the field of management and organization of work, including managing human resources.
Skills
P_U01 Has the ability to analyze and use data (legal acts) necessary to manage internal roads.
P_U02 Has the ability to analyze the directions of changes in the rules of road infrastructure management at the forest district, RDSF and local level
P_U03 He can verify and use new technologies used in road engineering, taking into account local conditions.
P_U04 He can make a critical analysis of the presented documentation and technology used in the road maintenance process and can indicate the directions of their modification.
P_U05 Is able to provide appropriate structures for the management and organization of work in the field of road infrastructure.
